Collection: Tzedakah
The word “Tzedakah” is most commonly translated as “charity,” although it is derived from the Hebrew work for righteousness, or justice.
In Judaism, giving to the poor is not considered a noble act—it is an obligation; an act of justice. This obligation, which includes giving to Jews and non-Jews alike, is considered most sacred when neither the donor nor the individual recipient is known.
