A vintage pocket postal scale, similar to ones found in the National Postal Museum of the Smithsonian Institution, the "Postamatic" has been refashioned as the handle of this unique pocket sized Yad. Created in the 1950's, the Postamatic was a portable scale used to weigh letters attached to the clip at the bottom of the cylinder. As the cylinder was held upright, the inner spring would contract and indicate the postal rate. Adding pewter and brass and the pointed finger to guide you as you read from the Torah, this Yad is aptly named, "The Weight of Words".
